Rationale

Pol-Ed is a new link between the police and education where children can receive a personalised curriculum that develops a sense of self, improves wellbeing and helps them grow as individuals. It provides lessons and assemblies linked to PSHE (relationships, well-being, keeping safe and understanding the law). The purpose is to establish a safe, secure environment where children can flourish and become confident, resilient individuals in their community.

“With Pol-Ed, we want to create a world where children and young people are safe. Our impact on schools will inspire a generation of change makers who will help shape a positive, inclusive and lawful society for everyone.” Pol-Ed

Lessons

The lessons start for our youngest children in Early Years and progress to Year 6. They cover a range of subjects related to their health, well- being, relationships, understanding the law, their local environment and keeping themselves safe. It gives the children a chance to discuss issues that are around them and know what they should do to get help. The lessons are reviewed by the creators regularly so they are always up to date and current.

Assemblies.

The Assemblies cover key PSHE themes and significant events that happen across the year. Within assemblies, children have the opportunity to deliver key points (leading the assemblies) and discuss them in a larger group so that a wider variety of views can be shared about important topics. We value the children’s opinions at Bader Primary and encourage them to share them.
