At Bader we believe that high quality school sport has benefits that spread right across the curriculum and beyond – it develops confidence and a sense of achievement, it teaches young people how to rise to a challenge, and nurtures the character and skills that will help them get on and succeed in life. We offer an ever increasing range of opportunities for the pupils of our school to participate in competitive sport.
In addition to this, we feel that a good level of sport and fitness can support with both children’s physical and mental health. In accordance with this we are looking to engage with the government’s Childhood Obesity Plan for Action which can be found here.
Silver School Games Award
Bader is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the silver kite mark for our dedication to PE and school sport. With our great PE lessons, sporting afterschool clubs, SSOC organisation, and participation in current tag rugby, athletics, netball, football and basketball events at other schools. We are also extremely proud of our intra school competitions which last year included a full KS2 rounder’s and cross country competition. At Bader we aim to create a platform for our budding young sportsmen and women by forming links with local sporting clubs.
The Sainsbury’s School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves across bronze, silver and gold levels of the Mark.
To achieve the award many pre-requisites had to be fulfilled. These included: children’s participation and provision of PE/ Games, the number of competitive opportunities both within and outside school that are offered, pupils involvement in the planning and organisation of sporting events and the training of staff – to name but a few.
