R.E. at Bader Primary School

At Bader Primary School, Religious Education promotes the spiritual, moral and cultural development of children. It helps to prepare them for the experiences and responsibilities of life and helps to develop an understanding of the world in which we live.

Our Intent

As a school we aim to:-

·         develop children`s knowledge and understanding of major world faiths

·         help children to understand, respect and make connections among different religions, beliefs, values and traditions

·         enable children to grow in understanding of their world and the challenges that await them

·         develop a positive attitude towards other people, respecting their right to hold different beliefs from their own

·         encourage children`s ability to treat other people with fairness, compassion and respect

·         enable children to be empowered by their understanding

·         encourage children in their love of learning

Bader Primary School follows the Stockton Agreed Syllabus for R.E.

The content is taught in a systematic, logical progression, so that children acquire the appropriate knowledge and skills. Lesson content can be adapted to meet the needs of the children and, also, to make links with other curriculum areas. Children are encouraged to build on their own experiences and develop their knowledge and understanding of different faiths and beliefs.

Visits to local places of worship, and visits to school by representatives of local religious groups, enhance the learning experience for children by giving them first-hand experience.

The R.E. syllabus divides teaching and learning into half-termly units of work which are then taught on a weekly basis in Years Reception to Year 6. In Nursery, children experience spiritual and moral development through P.S.E.D.
